Former NHL Scout Simon Barrette Joins Viima Hockey – Launch of New Pelianalyysi Prospect Service

Viima Hockey is strengthening its team with a major addition, as Simon Barrette, a Canadian who brings eight years of NHL scouting experience, joins our organization. Barrette has extensive international expertise as a scout and video analyst with the Columbus Blue Jackets, as well as with several top European professional clubs, like KooKoo of Liiga, where Barrette worked as a scouting consultant for over four years.

Barrette (M.Sc. Sports Management) has worked at the professional level in the NHL, Liiga, SHL, and QMJHL, with responsibilities ranging from player evaluations, interviews, and reporting to producing in-depth video analyses. He also has youth coaching experience in Finland and holds a NASM Certified Personal Trainer license.

New Service: Pelianalyysi Prospect

At the same time, Viima Hockey is introducing a brand-new service – Pelianalyysi Prospect. This is an accessible and cost-effective video feedback service, with Simon Barrette as the dedicated analyst.

Pelianalyysi Prospect is designed for all players – from juniors upwards – who want to improve their game and receive an external, objective evaluation of their performance. Each player will receive a 5–10 minute English-language video report on their game, where Barrette highlights both strengths and key development areas, with insights for short-term improvements as well as long-term growth.
